New Santobono Pediatric Hospital

A “pediatric campus” surrounded by green areas in a harmonious dialogue between architecture and landscape: this is the vision for the new Santobono Hospital to be built in the Ponticelli district of Naples.
The multi-specialty and multi-functional pediatric hospital will serve as a hub for the entire region and Southern Italy, acting as a regional reference center for complex emergencies. It will accommodate 315 regular inpatient beds, 60 critical care and sub-intensive care beds, and 62 Day Center beds.
The building, designed with a base-and-towers structure, will stand out for its high technological and organizational content, as well as its focus on humanizing aspects aimed at enhancing the well-being of individuals, including patients, their families, companions, and staff.

A large multi-level Hospital Street will serve as the main distribution axis of the hospital, guiding users to various functional areas and spaces dedicated to socialization.
Playrooms, waiting areas, and social spaces will enrich and animate the public areas, emphasizing play and positive distraction as fundamental aspects of pediatric care.
Green inner courtyards will bring nature into the building, integrating it seamlessly into the architectural space.
This modern and "virtual" hospital will focus heavily on outpatient care and remote patient management through telemedicine, telemonitoring, and teleconsultation.
