The new BioBank and BSL Laboratories will be built adjacent to the Candiolo Cancer Institute-IRCCS (Turin), a specialized center for oncology treatment and part of the Piedmont-Valle d’Aosta Oncology Network.
The building will expand the existing complex, hosting areas for cryopreservation and histological sample archiving, as well as medical offices and clinical and research laboratories with bio-containment up to level BSL3.

The new structure, oriented along the north-south axis and connected to the existing institute via a closed and covered corridor that intersects perpendicularly, will primarily function as a “biobank.” This facility will be dedicated to preserving biological material samples in a controlled environment, ensuring adherence to ethical rules, anonymity, traceability, and retrievability.
The area near the laboratory entrance will be designated for BSL3 bio-safety laboratories, accessible through a series of pressure gradient-controlled filters to prevent potential contamination of the external environment.
